Mr. Adas Jean "AJ" Sankey died on February 6, 2022, at the age of 99 years.

Mr. Sankey was born on October 21, 1922, in West Virginia and served in the United States Army during World War II from July 1944 to 1946.

He was an active community member serving as a volunteer and later as Assistant Fire Chief for the Screamer Volunteer Fire Department, a trustee and usher at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, a 32nd degree Mason, and a member of the Alabama Democratic Conference.

Survivors include his wife Christine Spann Sankey, four children (Robert, Larry, Ricky, and Willie Sankey; and Barbara Ann Grimsley, Leoner Isom, Mary Joyce Lynn, and Sandra Grubbs), twenty-two grandchildren, and other family members.

The House of Representatives records his death with deep sadness and offers this resolution in tribute to his life and with sympathy to his family.
