• Proposes a constitutional amendment requiring local boards of education to adopt policies mandating K-12 public schools broadcast or perform the first stanza of The Star-Spangled Banner at the start of each school-sanctioned sporting event.

• Requires schools to broadcast or perform the first stanza of The Star-Spangled Banner at least once per week during school hours.

• Allows schools to broadcast a Library of Congress recording of the anthem, or alternatively permit live performance by a school band, chorale, vocal group, or community attendees led by a school-selected vocalist.

• If multiple school-sanctioned sporting events occur on the same day at the same school, the school may broadcast the anthem at only one event rather than all of them.

• Amendment requires voter approval by majority of qualified electors voting thereon in accordance with Alabama constitutional procedures.
