SB203 Summary

• Administrative Office of Courts shall annually collect data from municipal courts by December 1, including total cases, revenue collected and disbursed, expenditures, and operating budgets for courts and municipalities.

• Administrative Office of Courts must submit a written report within six months after each fiscal year to the Legislature, Attorney General, and Governor, with individual municipal data and list of non-compliant courts published on its website.

• Municipal courts failing to submit data within 60 days of the due date forfeit fees and costs to the state Comptroller and become subject to financial audit by the Examiners of Public Accounts or an independent certified public accountant.

• By January 1, 2025, all municipal courts must use either the state judicial information system or a court system properly integrated with the state system for reporting purposes, with costs potentially paid from correction fund monies.

• Administrative Office of Courts shall provide training and resources to municipal judges, court clerks, and magistrates on use of the state judicial information system; Department of Finance shall create an electronic report form and publish all reports on its website by January 1, 2023.
