SB225 Summary

• Grants a six percent salary increase to all certificated (teaching) employees at city and county school systems beginning fiscal year 2022-2023, with increases applied to all steps of the State Minimum Salary Schedule based on years of experience.

• Provides a six percent pay increase to education support personnel (K-12), including adult bus drivers and Adult Basic Education employees, effective fiscal year 2022-2023.

• Requires Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind (AIDB) employees to receive at least a six percent salary increase for both certificated and support personnel beginning fiscal year 2022-2023.

• Mandates two-year postsecondary institutions revise all salary schedules to reflect a six percent pay increase for fiscal year 2022-2023, in addition to any step increases earned by employees.

• Excludes school superintendents from automatic pay increases (requiring majority vote of governing body), excludes part-time community education and child care program employees by option, and specifies the increases continue in subsequent years with no authorization for additional increases beyond the baseline adjustment.
