Increases per semester loan repayment awards under the Alabama Math and Science Teacher Education Program (AMSTEP) administered by the Alabama Commission on Higher Education for math and science teachers in underserved areas.

Raises base program award for math and science teachers from $2,500 to $3,750 per semester, effective beginning the 2022 fall semester.

Increases supplemental award for teachers in schools with acute teacher shortages or failing schools from $2,500 to $2,500 per year ($1,250 per semester) for math and science teachers, and maintains $1,000 per year ($500 per semester) for computer science teachers.

Requires eligible teachers to hold valid Alabama professional educator certificates, teach at least three-fourths of their load in math, science, or computer science, be Alabama residents with outstanding federal student loans, and serve maximum four consecutive years.

Becomes effective the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
