SB262 Summary

• Secretary of State shall establish and maintain a comprehensive website by April 3, 2023 with detailed information on every state board, commission, and task force including member names, appointment dates, term expiration dates, appointing authorities, and statutory authority for appointments.

• Website must be searchable by board name, appointing authority, and appointment terms/expiration dates, with updates required within 30 days of new board creation and weekly updates to vacancy listings.

• Secretary of State shall submit annual reports by the tenth legislative day of each regular session detailing board membership and viability status, recommending Sunset Committee review for boards inactive five or more years.

• Secretary of State shall maintain separate information on temporary task forces including mission, members, meeting notices, and final reports, established by November 1, 2022 and searchable by task force name and creation year.

• Department of Examiners of Public Accounts shall review board member appointment expiration dates for statutory compliance and examine/summarize board compliance with these requirements in audits.
