• Governor may appoint honorary generals in the Alabama National Guard upon recommendation of the Adjutant General and subject to Senate confirmation.

• Appointees must be Alabama National Guard officers with a minimum of 25 years of service who have retired at the rank of colonel.

• Honorary generals may wear the National Guard uniform with one-star insignia when representing the Governor at military functions or with Adjutant General approval.

• Honorary generals receive no other benefits associated with the appointment.

• Act becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
