SB305 Summary

• Prohibits portable electric generators capable of direct connection to commercial, industrial, or residential structures from back-feeding electricity into the electric distribution system unless the structure's electrical system is isolated at the main breaker panel.

• Exempts permanently connected generators with transfer switches or other mechanisms approved by the electric supplier, as well as generators running in parallel with the distribution system with supplier approval.

• Exempts permanently connected energy storage systems that receive energy from generators or electric suppliers, can run in parallel with the distribution system, and are approved by the electric supplier.

• Establishes violation as a Class C misdemeanor offense.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
