SB319 Summary

• Amends Section 2-2-5 of the Code of Alabama 1975 to set the salary of the Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries at $110,000 per year, effective beginning the next term of office in January 2023.

• Commissioner is entitled to any cost-of-living pay increases and other benefits granted to state employees.

• If a cost-of-living increase is granted during the commissioner's term, it is paid as an expense allowance during that term; upon the next term of office, cumulative expense allowances are included in the base salary and expense allowances are voided.

• Salary is payable from the Agricultural Fund of the State Treasury in installments and constitutes the entire annual compensation for the office and all ex officio duties.

• Act became effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor.
