AL SB38

Proposes a constitutional amendment to merge the Office of State Auditor into the Office of the State Treasurer effective January 2031 upon expiration of the current State Auditor's term.

Prohibits the election of any person to the State Auditor office for any term beginning after January 2031.

Transfers all functions, duties, and responsibilities previously held by the State Auditor to the State Treasurer upon the merger.

Requires all references to the State Auditor in the Constitution, amendments, laws, rules, and regulations to be deemed references to the Office of the State Treasurer.

Amendment requires approval by a majority of qualified electors voting in an election held in accordance with constitutional procedures and state election laws.
