SB41 Summary

• Amends Section 28-3A-17.1 of the Alabama Code to authorize Class 1 municipalities to establish up to 15 entertainment districts within their corporate limits.

• Allows patrons to exit licensed premises with open containers of alcoholic beverages and consume them anywhere within the entertainment district boundaries.

• Requires each entertainment district to have a minimum of 4 licensees holding manufacturer's licenses (for tastings/samplings), restaurant retail liquor licenses, on-premises alcoholic beverage licenses, or other retail liquor licenses.

• Limits each district to a maximum area of one-half mile by one-half mile, though districts may be irregularly shaped.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
