HB11 Summary

• Amends Section 34-1A-5 of the Alabama Code to require licensees of the Alabama Electronic Security Board to display their license number or an Internet address where licensing information can be found in all advertising, including social media and Internet advertising, and on any vehicle displaying advertising information.

• Establishes license fee caps of $300 for individuals and $1,500 for business entities for a two-year period, effective January 1, 2014, with provisions allowing the board to stagger renewals and prorate fees on a monthly basis.

• Requires licensees to display the license at their normal place of business in an easily readable manner and to include board contact information in written service contracts with consumers.

• Mandates that licensees provide consumers with paper or electronic copies of all contracts upon completing an installation.

• Becomes effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor or upon otherwise becoming law.
