Any municipality in Houston County may contract with the county sheriff to provide police services within the municipality's corporate limits and police jurisdiction, including enforcement of municipal ordinances and arrest or citation authority.

Municipalities entering into police service contracts must pay the county treasury a sum mutually agreed upon by the municipal governing body, sheriff, and county commission to cover necessary manpower and equipment.

The county governing body may receive funds from contracting municipalities and expend those funds to provide police services within the municipality's jurisdiction.

Each contract between the sheriff and contracting municipality requires the consent and approval of both the sheriff and county commission.

The sheriff and commissioned deputies retain all legal and constitutional immunity afforded by law while providing services under the contract.
