HB193 Summary

• Continues the State Licensing Board for General Contractors until October 1, 2024, pursuant to Alabama's Sunset Law.

• Amends Section 34-8-7 of the Code of Alabama to add routine landscape maintenance work as a new exemption from general contractor licensing requirements.

• Defines routine landscape maintenance work to include cutting grass, trimming and removal of bushes and shrubs, placement and removal of pine straw and mulch, and similar ground maintenance activities.

• Preserves all existing provisions of Code Sections 34-8-1 through 34-8-28 governing general contractors and subcontractors.

• Becomes effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor.
