AL HB44

Expands the Alabama Job Creation and Military Stability Commission membership from four to five major military facilities by adding one additional retired senior member of the Armed Forces and one additional civic leader position.

Increases civic leader positions from four to five communities currently impacted most significantly by military facilities, with appointments made by the commission chair after consultation with existing military community organizations.

Maintains commission structure with Lieutenant Governor as chair, President Pro Tempore of Senate and Speaker of House as vice chairs, plus appointed legislative members, state agency heads, and military representatives.

Requires commission to meet at least once annually and submit annual reports to the Legislature by the seventh legislative day of each regular session beginning in 2018, detailing all activities and recommendations.

Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and gubernatorial approval.
