Commends Jeffrey L. Norris on being named the 2023-2024 Alabama Teacher of the Year by the State Department of Education.

Norris is an educator at Oak Mountain Middle School in Shelby County who began his career teaching third and fifth grade and special education before advancing into administrative roles as assistant principal and school principal.

As Alabama Teacher of the Year, Norris will serve as the state's "official ambassador of public education and the teaching profession" and is eligible for the National Teacher of the Year Award.

Norris was selected from among 16 finalists and announced as the winner at an event at the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts.

The resolution was passed by the House on May 23, 2023 and adopted by the Senate on May 23, 2023.
