Alabama Legislature honors the Boy Scouts of America Organization on its 113th anniversary and commends the organization for its acts of service and achievements.

Boy Scouts of America was incorporated by Chicago publisher William Boyce on February 8, 1910, and established a temporary national headquarters in New York on June 21, 1910, with 34 national representatives.

More than 2,722,000 youth have earned the Eagle Scout Award since 1912, with 35,342 earning the rank in 2022; in 2023 there are over 1,042,000 youth enrolled and more than 17,000,000 living alumni nationwide.

The organization conducted more than 17,700,000 community service hours in 2022 with support from more than 628,000 adult volunteer leaders serving through religious, civic, and other chartered organizations.

Boy Scouts of America aims to develop American citizens who are physically, mentally, and emotionally fit with qualities including self-reliance, courage, religious and spiritual values, respect for others' rights, and understanding of American systems and heritage.
