Commends Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated, and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, for their service in communities nationwide.

Phi Beta Sigma was founded on January 9, 1914, at Howard University in Washington, D.C., by three African American male students and has grown into an international organization with more than 125,000 members in 650 chapters across the United States, Switzerland, and Africa.

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority was founded on January 16, 1920, at Howard University and has more than 125,000 members in 800 chapters across the United States, Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Caribbean.

Both organizations maintain an authentic brother-sister association and work together to promote systematic fellowship, African American self-determination, justice, equal rights, and service to all humankind.

Resolution passed by the Alabama House of Representatives on May 25, 2023, and adopted by the Senate on May 31, 2023.
