Coach William Earl Griffin, a native of Clanton, Alabama and 1960 graduate of Verbena High School, is commended for induction into the Alabama High School Sports Hall of Fame.

Griffin earned a Bachelor's Degree from Auburn University in 1964 and a Master's Degree in Administration from The University of Montevallo, and declined a $1,000 signing bonus offer from the Milwaukee Braves to attend college.

From 1964 to his 2000 retirement, Griffin served as a math and physical education teacher and coach at Dallas County High School, compiling a football record of 91-39-6 with nine All-State players and never having a losing season.

Griffin's achievements include winning the Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 1A/2A State Baseball Championship in 1970, reaching the Class 3A State Baseball Semifinals in 1975 and 1976, and having the baseball field and field house named in his honor.

The Legislature of Alabama commends Coach Griffin and dedicates this resolution to him with admiration and best wishes for continued happiness and success in future endeavors.
