Commends Joseph Bernard Hampton for his outstanding professional achievements as the first Black man to lead a major utility company in Alabama.

Hampton began his career at Alabama Gas Company in 1992 at age 18 and advanced through management training roles across multiple Alabama cities and Kansas City, Missouri.

In December 2018, Hampton was promoted to President of Spire Incorporated, a public utility company providing natural gas services across Alabama, Mississippi, and Missouri.

Hampton is a graduate of Arthur Harold Parker High School and holds degrees in Physics from Stillman College and Engineering from The University of Alabama.

Honors Hampton for his distinguished career and contribution to the prosperity of the State of Alabama; he is married to Jenise and has two sons, Joseph III (age 14) and Jonathan (age 12).
