Commends Emily Cassity, a Citronelle High School senior, for being named one of Alabama Public Television's Young Heroes of 2023.

Emily has maintained straight A's since kindergarten with a current 4.66 grade point average and is expected to be in the top five percent of her class; she is a National Honor Society member and obtained her Certified Nursing Assistant License by the end of her junior year.

She serves as Secretary of the Student Council and captain of the Hi-Q Academic team, while also participating in First Priority Campus Ministries, Scholar Bowl, Design Team, and Broadcast Team.

Emily performs community service including volunteer work as Sound and Media Director at her church, teaching Sunday School to pre-K through second grade, participating in Operation Christmas Child, and serving at a homeless shelter in Mobile, Alabama.

Despite dealing with Cyclic Vomiting (Abdominal Migraines) beginning at 17 months old and developing into debilitating migraine headaches, she has maintained her commitment to studies, school, community, and family.
