Mr. Smith was born April 24, 1931, in Perote, Alabama, and served 25 years of active duty in the United States Army, retiring as a highly decorated Master Sergeant with awards including Oak Leaf Clusters, Bronze Stars, and the Legion of Merit.

Served his community as a Deacon at Perote First Baptist Church, President of the Bullock County Voters League, Coach of the Spot Dogs, and retired from the Bullock County Courthouse as Bailiff and Process Server.

Married Glayraine in May 1990 and became an entrepreneur, opening the Spot Grocery and Smith Investigations among other businesses.

Survived by his wife Glayraine Smith, five adult children (Cleo Smith, Rene Harrell, Ronald Smith, Carl Smith, and Paul Smith), and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and relatives.
