Commends Trooper Charles May for nomination to the 2023 Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Life Saving Medal.

On January 22, 2022, Trooper May responded off-duty to help locate hunter David Washburn who had been swept away by water from a collapsed beaver dam near Bullock County.

Trooper May located Washburn in the woods, assessed his hypothermia condition, provided emergency warmth by sharing his own clothing, and carried him approximately 100 yards to his patrol vehicle.

Paramedics informed Trooper May that Washburn would likely not have survived if he had not been located within the next hour after rescue.

The House of Representatives dedicates this resolution to Trooper May with gratitude, admiration, and regard for his extraordinary conduct and life-saving actions.
