Commends Sergeant Charles H. Newfield, Jr. on his retirement after 26 years of service in law enforcement with the Birmingham Police Department.

Newfield began his career on August 19, 1996, at the Birmingham Police Academy and served at South Precinct until July 2011, completing multiple beat assignments and specialized roles including Traffic Accident Investigator.

Promoted to Sergeant on October 16, 2015, and subsequently served as Patrol Supervisor for West, South, and North Precincts, with additional assignments including ATF Task Force, Tactical Operations, and K9 Supervisor.

Earned certifications in Traffic Accident Reconstruction, FBI Firearms Instruction, Dual Purpose K9 Instruction, and APOST certification as a Tactical Operator.

The House of Representatives honors and commends Sergeant Newfield for his tireless dedication, exceptional abilities, and positive influence on recruiting officers to Alabama's law enforcement community.
