Notes that only 27.4 percent of Alabama residents volunteer, ranking the state 42nd nationally in volunteerism, with parent volunteering at 38 percent (37th nationally) and declining teenage volunteering.

Identifies benefits of volunteering including strengthened communities, improved emotional and mental health for volunteers, reduced antisocial behavior, increased civic participation, and enhanced social capital.

Establishes Alabama Serves Day as one or multiple days annually when Alabamians can take time off work to volunteer in their communities.

Resolves to recognize the importance of Alabama Serves Day in the state of Alabama.
