Exempts compensation paid to retired law enforcement officers employed as school resource officers for extracurricular activities from retirement system compensation limits under Sections 16-25-26(a) and 36-27-8.2(a).

Defines "retired law enforcement officer" as a person who retired in good standing from a federal, state, or local law enforcement agency with at least 20 years of law enforcement experience.

Requires retired law enforcement officers and school resource officers carrying firearms to complete active shooter training approved by the Alabama State Law Enforcement Agency and annually pass firearm requalification.

Allows local boards of education to employ school resource officers and permit them to carry firearms while on duty if they meet specified qualifications including certification or retired status and non-lethal weapon training.

Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and gubernatorial approval.
