SB18 Summary

• Amends Alabama Code sections 34-25A-3, 34-25A-5, and 34-25A-8 to change certification requirements for prosthetists, orthotists, and pedorthists.

• Removes requirement that national certifying boards be accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) and replaces it with requirement that boards be "approved by the state board."

• Updates board membership requirements by removing NCCA accreditation mandates for appointed members and replacing them with state board approval standards.

• Ratifies any prior actions by the Alabama State Board of Prosthetists and Orthotists taken in conformance with this act before the effective date.

• Becomes effective immediately upon passage and gubernatorial approval.
