AL SB305

Authorizes the Sheriff of Hale County to establish procedures for making purchases of tangible personal property and services using credit cards or debit cards issued to the office.

Requires written policies governing card use that include monetary limits on individual purchases and total monthly spending, restricted access to cards and security codes limited to the sheriff or designee, and accurate record-keeping reviewed during audits.

Mandates monthly review of all card bills by the sheriff to detect unauthorized charges and requires full payment of bills on a timely basis to avoid service charges, late fees, or interest.

Directs the sheriff to select card providers based on evaluation of annual fees, rewards or rebates offered, interest rates and finance charges, and penalties for early termination.

Requires any rewards or rebates earned from card use to be deposited into the discretionary account of the Hale County Sheriff's Office.
