Both houses of the Alabama Legislature recess on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, and reconvene at 6:00 p.m. the same day in the House of Representatives Chamber at the Alabama State Capitol, 600 Dexter Avenue, for a joint session.

The joint session convenes for the purpose of hearing a message from Governor Kay Ivey.

A committee of three senators, named by the Presiding Officer of the Senate, and three representatives, named by the Speaker of the House, is appointed to wait upon and advise the Governor.

The appointed committee serves the dual purpose of receiving the Governor's message and escorting her to the House chamber for the joint session.
