Records the deaths of Marc Gann, 63, of Sylacauga and Samuel Adam Russell, 43, of Hanover, who died on April 2, 2023, during a lifesaving rescue effort.

The two men were dispatched to rescue a hiker in Shelby County when a LifeSaver helicopter crashed near County Road 43 and Mountain Oaks Drive, killing Gann at the scene and Russell later at the hospital.

Marc Gann served more than 20 years in the United States Army as a helicopter pilot and Army Ranger, joined LifeSaver in 2007, and worked with Oak Grove Volunteer Fire Department for seven years, leaving behind his wife Brenda and three children.

Samuel Adam Russell was a part-time firefighter with Sylacauga Fire Department for more than 15 years and served as a paramedic and registered nurse with LifeSaver, leaving behind his wife Tamara and three sons.

Legislature offers this resolution as a tribute to their lives and extends heartfelt sympathy to their families.
