Commends U.S. Senator Richard Shelby for his dedicated service to the State of Alabama and its citizens.

Recognizes Shelby's 44 years of service in the United States Congress, including service as an Alabama State Senator beginning in 1971, four terms in the U.S. House of Representatives starting in 1979, and six terms in the U.S. Senate beginning in 1987.

Acknowledges Shelby as the longest serving United States Senator from Alabama and credits his efforts with bringing increased prosperity, industrial relevance, and economic advancement to the state.

Notes Shelby's chairmanship of four U.S. Senate committees: the Select Committee on Intelligence, the Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs, the Committee on Rules, and the Committee on Appropriations.
