Honors Mr. John Allison Teague, Sr. for his numerous professional achievements and dedicates the resolution to him with appreciation and regard.

Mr. Teague was born July 9, 1944, in Childersburg, Alabama, and served in the Alabama House of Representatives (District 55: Talladega County, 1974-1976) and Alabama Senate (Districts 19 and 11, 1976-1986).

Elected President Pro-Tempore of the Senate in 1983 and named Most Outstanding Senator by his peers in 1984 and 1986; first Senator Pro-Tempore given a vote on every standing committee in Alabama history.

Received numerous awards including the Lyndon Baines Johnson Political Freedom Award (1984), Doctorate of Humane Letters from Talladega College (1984), Alabama Wildlife Federation's Conservationist of the Year (1986), and the CIT Rebuilding America Award (1988).

Three facilities named in his honor: the John A. Teague Bridge over the Coosa River in Childersburg (1987), the John A. Teague Student Center at the Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind (1989), and The John Teague Scholarship Award at Central Alabama Community College (1984).
