Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated was founded December 4, 1906, at Cornell University as the first intercollegiate Greek-letter fraternity for African-Americans by seven founders known as the "Jewels."

The fraternity has produced over 200,000 members since 1906 and currently maintains over 80,000 college-educated living members across 706 college and alumni chapters in the United States, Europe, Asia, and the Caribbean.

Alpha Phi Alpha has accumulated over 850,000 hours of community service, produced $2.3 million in scholarships, and registered thousands of American citizens to vote through its national civic outreach programs.

March 21, 2023, is recognized as Alpha Phi Alpha Day at the Alabama State Capitol, commending the fraternity and Alabama District Chapters for their outstanding contributions to the nation and State of Alabama.

The House Clerk is directed to distribute copies of this resolution to the Alabama District Director and Chairperson of the Political Action Committee of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated.
