Commends Mr. Thomas Whitten for 41 years of dedicated service to children, adolescents, and families.

Mr. Whitten earned a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology with minors in Corrections and Social Work from Jacksonville State University in 1980 and a Master of Social Work from the University of Alabama in May 1982.

Beginning in June 1982, Mr. Whitten worked at Louisiana Training Institute of Monroe as a Social Worker and was promoted to Program Manager and later Superintendent of secure juvenile facilities before returning to Alabama in 1992.

After returning to Alabama, Mr. Whitten served as Clinical Coordinator for Marshall Jackson Mental Health Board, the first Mental Health Officer in Jackson and Marshall Counties, and Social Worker for DeKalb County Children's Advocacy Center, where he became the agency's first school-based Social Worker.

The House of Representatives honors Mr. Whitten with this resolution as a tribute to his steadfast service and positive impact on many lives.
