Blount County Coroner receives an additional annual expense allowance of $18,000 effective October 1, 2024, payable from the county general fund.

Beginning in January 2027 with the next coroner term, the annual salary increases to $30,000 per annum, replacing the expense allowance and all other compensation except health insurance benefits.

Coroner is entitled to receive the same cost-of-living and uniform compensation increases granted to county employees, with base salary adjustments effective at the start of each new term.

Blount County Commission may authorize the coroner to receive reasonable and necessary expenses for office operations and may authorize appointment of deputy coroners with compensation from the county general fund.

Section 45-6-60.1 of the Code of Alabama 1975 is repealed effective January 2027 upon expiration of the incumbent coroner's term.
