AL HB127

Creates a Class CD felony for any individual to knowingly alter, disable, deactivate, tamper with, remove, damage, or destroy any electronic monitoring device.

Applies the new crime to three populations: defendants released to parole supervision under §15-22-26.2, parolees under §15-22-29, and probationers under §15-22-52.

Requires the Board of Pardons and Paroles to bear the costs of electronic monitoring for released offenders and parolees.

Exempts defendants convicted of sex offenses involving a child from early release supervision provisions under §15-22-26.2.

Becomes effective on October 1, 2024.
