Prohibits municipal historic preservation commissions from designating places of worship as historic properties or historic districts without the place of worship's voluntary consent.

Defines "place of worship" to include churches, synagogues, mosques, religious institutions and their auxiliaries, and buildings or grounds owned by or supporting the religious activities of the place of worship.

Allows places of worship to voluntarily agree to historic designation by recording written consent with the county judge of probate.

Applies retroactively to void all designations of places of worship as historic properties made by municipalities prior to June 1, 2024, unless the place of worship ratifies the designation in writing with the county judge of probate.

Prohibits municipalities from altering or amending this provision by local law, and repeals any conflicting existing local laws.
