Amends Section 16-40A-5 of the Alabama Code to prohibit classroom instruction regarding sexual orientation or gender identity in kindergarten through eighth grade unless age-appropriate and developmentally appropriate according to state standards.

Prohibits teachers and other public K-12 school employees from displaying flags or other insignia relating to or representing sexual orientation or gender identity in classrooms or on school property.

Requires the State Board of Education to adopt rules for implementation and enforcement of these prohibitions.

Becomes effective October 1, 2024.

Passed the House on March 23, 2024, with 74 yes votes, 25 no votes, and 2 abstentions.
