Proposes a constitutional amendment to authorize the Legislature to set and alter compensation of county officers and sheriffs through general or local law.

Prohibits the Legislature from increasing or decreasing compensation of county officers or sheriffs during their term of office, with changes taking effect only after the term expires.

Maintains existing restrictions on increasing state officer compensation by imposing new duties during their term of office.

Requires any compensation changes for county officers serving on courts, boards, or commissions with non-concurrent terms to become effective only after the member whose term expires first leaves office.

Amendment becomes effective upon ratification by a majority of qualified electors voting in a statewide election conducted under Sections 284 and 285 of the Alabama Constitution of 2022.
