AL HB237

Provides civil and criminal immunity for any individual or entity providing or receiving goods or services related to in vitro fertilization against lawsuits or criminal prosecution for embryo damage or death.

Exempts embryo-related liability claims from Chapter 5 of Title 6, Code of Alabama 1975, notwithstanding any other provision of law.

Applies retroactively to any acts, omissions, or courses of services not already subject to litigation as of the effective date.

Becomes effective immediately upon passage.

Passed the House on February 29, 2024 with a vote of 94-6-3.
