Amends Section 15-9-62, Code of Alabama 1975, to update reimbursement provisions for expenses incurred in transporting accused individuals during extradition proceedings.

Increases daily fee for sheriffs and other state agents from $8.00 to $100 per day while traveling to and from the place where a prisoner is arrested or confined.

Replaces the previous $.10 per mile reimbursement rate for personal vehicle use with reimbursement under Article 2 of Chapter 7 of Title 36 (standard state mileage reimbursement rates).

Clarifies that expenses for crimes punishable by confinement in the Department of Corrections or death are paid from state treasury, while all other cases are paid from county treasury in the county where the crime occurred.

Becomes effective October 1, 2024; passed by House on March 21, 2024, and Senate on May 8, 2024.
