• Requires county judges of probate to conduct a post-election audit after every county and statewide general election to verify accuracy of reported results.

• County canvassing boards select one precinct (excluding absentee and provisional ballots) and either one statewide or countywide race for audit at noon on the second Friday after the election.

• Audits must begin no earlier than 31 days after the statewide general election or expiration of election contest filing period (whichever is less) and must be completed within 30 days of commencement.

• Judge of probate may conduct audit by manual tally or by using previously tested and certified ballot counters, with poll watchers permitted to observe in the same manner as regular elections.

• County audit expenses are fully reimbursed by the Comptroller, and audit reports must include descriptions of any problems or discrepancies, likely causes, and recommendations for corrective actions; Secretary of State must report findings to Governor and Legislature within 30 days.
