AL HB260

Authorizes Alabama to exercise concurrent jurisdiction with the United States over federal crimes committed by juveniles on Department of Defense military installations located within the state.

Requires the United States Attorney or applicable United States District Court to waive exclusive jurisdiction before state concurrent jurisdiction can be established.

Limits concurrent jurisdiction to violations of federal law that are also crimes under Alabama state law.

Grants Alabama juvenile courts exclusive original jurisdiction over cases involving juveniles alleged to be delinquent from acts committed on military installations that violate state law.

Effective date: October 1, 2024.
