Adds "freestanding birth center" to the definition of facilities where licensed midwives may provide midwifery services, excluding hospitals.

Expands the State Board of Midwifery's authority to accept gifts and grants pursuant to terms and conditions adopted by official resolution.

Changes the nominating organization for certified professional midwife board members from "Alabama Birth Coalition" to "Alabama Midwives Alliance or its successor professional midwifery organization."

Makes technical and nonsubstantive revisions to update existing code language to current style, including clarifying language in definitions and procedures.

Effective date: October 1, 2024.
