Authorizes the City of Trussville, Alabama to increase the ad valorem special school tax rate from $0.70 to a maximum of $1.99 per $100 of assessed value (7 mills to 19.9 mills), an increase of up to 12.9 mills.

The tax increase is subject to approval by a majority of qualified city electors voting in a special election called under Section 217(f) of the Alabama Constitution of 2022.

The increased tax revenue is designated for public school purposes at the request of the Trussville City Board of Education, following a city council resolution and public hearing.

The current special school tax was authorized by an election held February 25, 2014, and the proposed increase builds upon that existing authorization.

The act becomes effective June 1, 2024, and was passed by the House on April 11, 2024 and the Senate on April 25, 2024.
