• Establishes a temporary release program for individuals in the Alabama Department of Corrections or Lawrence County Sheriff custody to work or pursue rehabilitation, with one day's credit toward sentence for each day released.

• Requires work release participants to pay 25% of gross earnings to the Lawrence County Community Corrections and Court Services Fund, with 20% of collected revenues distributed quarterly to the Sheriff for law enforcement purposes.

• Creates a 9-member Lawrence County Community Corrections and Court Services Commission to administer the fund and operate treatment, rehabilitation, education, intervention, and pretrial diversion programs.

• Allows judges to release non-capital, bailable offense defendants on personal recognizance or appearance bond with a 10% deposit, of which 10% of the deposit is remitted to the fund within 10 days.

• Becomes effective October 1, 2024.
