Amends Alabama Code Sections 36-30-1 and 36-30-2 to expand the definition of "first responder" to include coroners, deputy coroners, medicolegal death investigators, and medical examiners.

Extends state death benefits of $100,000 to beneficiaries of coroners, deputy coroners, medicolegal death investigators, and medical examiners who die in the performance of official duties, matching benefits available to other first responders.

Raises the dependent child age threshold from 18 to 19 years old for state death benefit eligibility purposes.

Clarifies that "compensation" includes death benefits for peace officers, firefighters, and "other first responders" during employment or official activity.

Becomes effective October 1, 2024.
