Creates a full-time, compensated position of Dementia Services Coordinator within the Department of Senior Services, with salary fixed by the Commissioner and exempt from Section 36-6-6.

Coordinator shall evaluate coordination of dementia services in Alabama, identify duplicate services, analyze dementia-related data from state agencies, and identify grant opportunities to expand services for individuals with dementia and their caregivers.

Coordinator shall coordinate information and resources for Alabamians with dementia and caregivers, establish relationships with agencies and organizations to prevent service duplication, and support dementia-specific staff training across state agencies including law enforcement, Department of Senior Services, and Department of Public Health.

Coordinator shall streamline state government services to increase efficiency and improve care quality in residential, home, and community-based settings, coordinate Alzheimer's and dementia-related work groups and task forces, and oversee implementation of the State Plan for Alzheimer's Disease and Other Related Dementias.

Coordinator must submit annual reports to the chairs of the Senate Healthcare Committee and House Health Committee by the first day of each regular legislative session; bill becomes effective October 1, 2024.
