Establishes a $30 booking fee to be assessed against persons booked into the Covington County Detention Center and subsequently convicted of a crime.

Fee is collected by the court clerk at the time of conviction in the same manner as court costs, or may be collected by the sheriff from inmate funds.

All revenue from the booking fee is directed to the Covington County Sheriff's Department Law Enforcement Fund for jail operations, training, salaries, equipment, and other law enforcement uses as determined by the sheriff.

District attorney may assist in collection of unpaid fees, and sheriff may contract for fee collection services.

Act becomes effective on the first day of the first month following ratification of a 2022 Alabama Constitution amendment authorizing additional court costs in Covington County.
