HB55 Summary

• Prohibits operating passenger cars or trucks on Alabama highways if the front fender height is raised 4 or more inches greater than the rear fender height through alteration of suspension, frame, or chassis.

• Exempts vehicle modifications made for bona fide commercial or agricultural purposes from the prohibition.

• Establishes a graduated penalty structure: first conviction up to $50, second conviction up to $100, and third or subsequent conviction up to $250.

• Limits consideration of prior convictions to offenses occurring within the 5 years preceding the current offense.
